FLOWERS

As a young girl my Grandpa and I would go on walks and explore nature. He was red-green color blind. I was as much fascinated as saddened that he couldn’t see what I did. I poured my heart into an explanation, giving details to each color. This is where my emotion for color began, discovering its power to control a response.

In my studio, I enter with excitement and eagerness. I turn on my beeswax to start it melting. While waiting for that faint smell of honey to fill the room I cover up with my one-and-only apron. Surrounding me is inspiring crayon art from my grandchildren, special notes from friends, and many many post-its of reminders and intentions. I play music to fit my mood and start painting my next favorite body of work.
